Harley-Davidson’s LiveWire S2 Del Mar Electric Motorcycle Offers 113-Mile City Range

LiveWire, the independent company that emerged from Harley-Davidson’s electric division, has revealed the specifications of its S2 Del Mar electric motorcycle. Priced at $15,499 as previously announced, this upcoming bike boasts impressive features such as accelerating from zero to 60 mph in just 3.0 seconds, reaching a top speed of 103 mph, and delivering 84 horsepower (63 kW).

The company announced preliminary S2 Del Mar specs earlier this year, but the official details are a bit beyond expectations. For example, LiveWire had said the bike had 110 miles of city range, but it’s now rated at 113 miles of city driving on a single charge. Its 0-60 mph time of 3.0 seconds is slightly faster than the originally advertised 3.1 seconds. Additionally, its previously reported 184 pound-feet of torque is now 194 ft-lb.

On the other hand, the S2 Del Mar is a bit heavier than expected: it’s now listed at 436 lbs in running condition, as opposed to the 431 lbs LiveWire announced in April. Level 2 charging (from 20% to 80% battery) is now listed at 78 minutes, compared to the original 75 minutes. The bike still doesn’t support fast charging and is limited to tier 1 and tier 2 features. Of course, the S2 Del Mar is built more as a commuter motorcycle than something you’d rely on for long trips: it’s only rated for 43 miles of continuous highway riding at 70 mph and a combined (highway / city) 70 mph. range 62 miles. If you drop it at 55 miles per hour, it has an estimated range of 70 miles on the road and 86 miles combined.

The bike supports OTA updates. “Your motorcycle can now receive updates and improvements as we develop them – making things easy and fun for you to ride,” the company’s website says. The bike has a four-inch round screen, connects to phones via USB-C and supports app-based navigation.

The S2 Del Mar still carries the previously advertised MSRP of $15,499. While we don’t yet know its release date, LiveWire had previously targeted a July release in the US; specs in hand, perhaps its official arrival is not far off.
